econd daughter of Jeremiah Chamberlain (1740-1829) and Margaret Carmichael (1765-1821), of Grainger Co., TN. In 1809, she married James Stirling, her brother Ninian Chamberlain serving as bondsman. Some time before 1840, the Stirlings moved to Johnson Co., MO. They had six children: John; Margaret E.; Jeremiah Chamberlain; James; Taylor; and Catharine Jane. After James' death in 1852, Janet removed with her children to TX.
