Robert Kenny (Ken) Barmore

en was born December 27, 1921 in New Jersey. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 hoping to become a pilot. After training in B-24s he ferried a new B-24 Liberator from California to Italy. He was shot down on his 3rd mission over Ploesti, Romania, in May 1944. He and his crew were taken to a POW camp in a school in Bucherest. He was liberated by Russian soldiers in August 1944. After the war he married Barbara and had two children. He flew for three years with United Air Lines, was laid off with the over abundance of pilots, then he became crew supervisor for them until retirement. He passed away in 2020 at 98 1/2 years old!
