Eddie" Myers was born in Zanesville, Ohio, in 1915. His mother died in 1918, and he was sent to an orphanage. When he left the orphanage during the Great Depression, he joined the CCC, then joined the Army on Nov 22, 1941. He served in the South Pacific theater with the 30th Bombardment Group. Because of his short stature, he was a tail gunner on a B24. Sgt. Myers died on Jan 21, 1944, when his B-24, the Galloping Gus, went down shortly after takeoff from Tarawa in the Gilbert Islands. He is buried in Dresden, Ohio.
