The Who

T

he Who is an English rock band formed in 1964. It gained great success in the United Kingdom and the United States, but struggled with inter-band conflicts and drug use. Through the Woodstock Festival and film, The Who gained great acclaim in the U.S. and many albums sold even better in the U.S. than in Britain. The band stuck together throughout the 1970s and performed sporadically through the 1980s and 1990s. Although the loss of drummer Keith Moon affected the band, The Who recently released their first album in 2006, the first in more than twenty years.
