Guardsmen Win Promotions

Two Advance To Sergeant Rank

Two men won promotions as sergeant, and six were advanced to the grade of corporal, in a wholesale promotion of enlisted men of Company K, New York Guard, at the state Armory, incident to competitive examinations for promotion necessitated by expansion of the size of the company to about 70 men.

Captain Albert H. Ahlers, commanding officer, and his staff of commissioned officers, First Lieutenant Vincent Hocklowski and Second Lieutenant William J. Sadller, conducted the examinations recently. In addition, 11 enlisted men won ranking as first class privates, and three won ranking as specialists.

Corporal James Dykeman and Corporal Andrew William Reiss, both ex-service men, Corporal Dykeman being a World war veteran, were promoted to posts as sergeants.
