Crew 804 Flew K-43 (44-69799) and were shot down on their 2nd mission on 13 April 1945. The mission was to Tokyo and they were hit by flak over the target. On this mission, riding as an observer, was LTCOL Doyne L. Turner, the CO of the 458th BS. Of the twelve men riding on this plane, *10 were killed in the Tokyo Prison Fire of May 23, 1945. This is the incident where the 330th, along with several bomb groups, were on a fire mission to Tokyo and the prison was destroyed in the ensuing fire. The Japanese Prison Guards would not let the Americans out of their burning cells and the men of K-43, along with countless others, were left to perish in the flames. The guards were later convicted at the War Crimes Tribunal and executed.MACR # 14240
