MOSCOW – Vance Arthur Lahey, 84, died Saturday, October 14, 2006, at Harry Hynes Hospice, Wichita.

He was born June 21, 1922, to Arthur Easton and Marjorie Gail (King) Lahey in Moscow. He married June Rose Campbell were married May 14, 1948, in Tucumcari, N.M. She survives.

He was a farmer and rancher. He served his country in the United States Marines Air Corps during World War II. He enjoyed dirt track racing and had a special horse named Whip.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Moscow, the American Legion Post No. 276, Satanta, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5391 and Masonic Lodge No. 406, both of Hugoton. He recently received his 60-year Masonic pin. He also served on the board of Federal Land Bank for 12 years.

Other survivors include one son, Tom Lahey and wife Patty, Moscow; four daughters, Vana Campbell and husband Doug, Ulysses, Sarah Schwien, Wichita, Darcy Kisling and husband Kent, Burlington, Okla., and Becky Herrman and husband Tony, Liberal; one daughter-in-law, Angie Lahey, Moscow; one sister, Madge Berthelot and husband Paul, Burbank, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Thane Lahey; one grandson, Easton Herrman; one sister, Marjorie Hulett; and one brother, Kenneth Lahey.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Moscow, with the Rev. Tim McCrary presiding. Burial will be at Moscow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.
