Stutes, William F. Marion--Civil War Pension File, National Archives, Washington, DC: Born about 1840. At Camp Sherman, Mississippi in August of 1863 he was treated for typhoid pneumonia. This illness continued for four weeks and was followed by chronic diarrhea and a severe cough. In May or June of 1864 he was shot in the groin at Dallas, Georgia. He was shot in the left forearm at Jonesboro, Georgia in September 1864.

William Stutes was a carpenter and wagon maker. Married Jennie Allion (writing was hard to read) in Lewistown (Fulton) Illinois on 25 December 1872. Their children: Arthur Walton born 4 July 1874; Archer Walcott born 26 July 1876; and Jessie born 10 August 1882. William F. Marion Stutes died of chronic bronchitis and chronic diarrhea on 10 March 1889. His widow married George W. Corey on 19 November 1899. Mr. Corey died in Huntsville (Schuyler) Illinois on 12 February 1906.
