Son of Alfred Sellers and Elizabeth Betsey Anderson.

Brother to Lavinia, James, Alfred, Elisha and Elizabeth.

Farmer by trade.

Married Frances Mary Benney about 1860 in Mississippi.

Frances died about 1896.

Had at least 10 children including Milton, William, James, Carrie, Henry, Frances, Annie, Lavinia, Sidney and Allen.

William died about 1915 in Kemper County, Mississippi.

Burial location is unknown.

Reenlisted 01 April 1862 in Yorktown, Virginia.

Hospitalized a 2nd time 09 May 1862 in The Winder Hospital Camp in Richmond, Virginia.

Released from hospital 21 May 1862 and returned to duty.

Hospitalized a 3rd time 27 August 1862, in The Winder Hospital, for gastritis.

Released from hospital 31 October 1862 and returned to duty.

Hospitalized a 4th time 07 March 1863.in The CSA General Hospital.

Released from hospital 27 March 1863 and returned to duty.

Hospitalized a 5th time 02 May 1863 in The Chimbazo Hospital for bronchitis. .

Released from hospital 27 May 1863 and returned to duty.

Sometime in early 1865, William deserted the Confederate Army and eventually surrendered to Union forces.

13TH ALABAMA INFANTRY REGIMENT

13th Infantry Regiment completed its organization in July, 1861, at Montgomery, Alabama. Men of this unit were from the counties of Coosa, Wilcox, Macon, Butler, Talladega, Montgomery, Randolph, Elmore, and Tallapoosa. Ordered to Virginia, it served under General Rains at Yorktown, and in April, 1862, contained 474 effectives. Later the 13th was assigned to General Colquitt's, Archer's, Sanders', and W.H. Forney's Brigade, Army of the Northern Virginia. It participated in many conflicts from Williamsburg to Cold Harbor, then fought in the long Petersburg siege south of the James River and the campaign that ended at Appomattox. This regiment reported 52 casualties at Seven Pines, 101 during the Seven Days' Battles, and 140 at Chancellorsville. Of the 308 engaged at Gettysburg, over half were disabled. It surrendered with 6 officers and 85 men on April 9, 1865. The field officers were Colonels James Aiken and B.D. Fry; Lieutenant Colonels William H. Betts, R.H. Dawson, S.B. Marks, and Julius C.B. Mitchell; and Major John T. Smith.
