Mandeville Everett Hall was born 21 November 1920 in New York City, New York. He was the second of three children of Ernest John Hallberg (later shortened to Hall) and Hulda Axelia Johnson. He went by Everett. His parents were of Swedish descent; his father fought in World War I and worked as a bookkeeper and office manager at an investment security firm. The family was Protestant.

On the 1930 census, Everett was a lodger in the home of James and Nellie Brown in the Bronx. His mother died when he was seventeen years old. He graduated from Westfield High School in New Jersey (22 miles away from New York City). He completed one year of college and worked at Western Electric Company in Kearny, New Jersey. His 1942 draft registration described him as six feet tall, 175 pounds, with a light complexion, blonde hair, and blue eyes.

Everett enlisted as a Private on 20 August 1942 in Newark, New Jersey. He trained at Camp Davis, North Carolina, and fought with the 445th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalio, 8th Infantry Division. He married Catherine Elizabeth Carter in 1942 in Manhattan, New York. They had one daughter. Everett was a machinist and they moved to Ridgewood, New Jersey.

The division went overseas in February 1944. They landed on the beaches of Normandy on July 4th and entered combat on July 8th. The 445th protected advancing columns from air attack through Normandy and Brittany until late September. In early October 1944 they were hastily moved to the Our River, the border between Luxembourg and Germany, in relief of 5th Army forces which had met with considerable enemy resistance. They established several observation and listening posts on the high ground of the "Hoesdorf Plateau" facing the well-camouflaged German "Westwall" (Siegfried line) fortifications across the the Our River.

Everett died at age 23 on 7 October 1944 in Hoesdorf, Canton de Diekirch, Diekirch, Luxembourg, from an artillery shell fragment to the thorax. He was buried in Henri-Chapelle, Belgium. He earned the rank of Private First Class and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. Catherine remarried Neil Ackerman in 1942. She died in 2008 in New Jersey.
