PVT. JOSEPH HAVEL

Reburial services for Pvt. Joseph Havel, who died June 18, 1942, in a Japanese prisoner of war camp on Bataan at the age of 26, will be held at 8:15 a.m. Thursday in St. Albert's Catholic church.

Pvt. Havel lived at 3112 Thirtieth Avenue S. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National cemetery. Rosary services will be held at Thomson Brothers Mortuary, 735 E. Franklin avenue, Thursday at 8 PM.

PVT Havel enlisted in the Marines in January, 1940. He served in the Philippines and made the Bataan death march. He died of beri-beri. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvar C Mortenson; one brother, James E. Smejkal, and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Emerick.
