My grandfather was born in Nogales, Arizona, to a Hopi Native American and a Greek father. He was delivered by a mid-wife in a mission. Not long after the death of his much moved mother, he ran away from home at the age of 12 and stayed the rest of his life in California. On his way, he saw 2 men kill another man and bury him, this was 1915. He was so afraid he never told anyone until he was an older adult.

He soon came to southern California and worked as a chef; creating his own unique recipes for meat sauce and greek salad dressing. He was once a chef for Harold Lloyd the actor. He eventually became a great auto machanic. So much so, that he could put his ear to a running engine and tell you what the problem was with the car. He did detail work with a steady hand.

He was a very proud man, and though he showed little affection until his older years, he was generous and caring to those in need. Having a massive stroke at the age of 63, he enjoyed what life he had until his death at 78.
