Description
confederates, upon returning to Portsmouth, Virginia, found they were not allowed to work, support their families or even live civily in occupied -PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA. John M.'s father after trying to work from home, with his ill wife and small children finally gave up and moved to the city of Washington DC, to find work and a livihood.John M. (MERIWEATHER?), one of my GreatGrandfather's and son of John H. LEWIS, married a Mary JOHNSON, and that was his only marriage. His "twin" was a George Washington LEWIS, who died in 1935 quite a while before he did. His wife Mary also, died prior to him, which I feel he missed until he died.
