From his obituary:

Kenneth E. Knapp, a longtime resident of Middletown, died at Middletown Park Rehab and Nursing Center on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 after a short illness. He was 95.

The son of Beauleh Ellis and Frank E. Knapp, he was born on December 17, 1917 in Livingston Manor. Ken joined the U.S. Army on March 11, 1942 and served in World War II until he was honorably discharged on October 6, 1945. For six months he was a prisoner of war in the Battle of the Buldge and received many medals for his service. He was a Life member of American Legion Post 151 and the Disabled American Veterans Post #55; a 55 year member of the Greenville VFW Post 3175, and a member of the Hudson Valley Chapter of POWS. He was also a 50 year member of the Ontario Hose Co. #5, the Veteran Firemans' Association, North Congregational Church in Middletown and the Walden Seniors.

Ken was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Elman Knapp in 1985.
