Born in Clay County West Virginia 4 January 1919, his early years were spent living and working on the family farm. Following the divorce of his parents, he lived with his brother in Kanawha City and attended Charleston High School, graduating in 1939.

He married my mother, Ruby Mildred Tyree, 23 December, 1941.

Mark enlisted in the Army 15 January 1942. Following training he was attached to the Ninth Infantry Division and participated in Amphibious Landings in Morocco during operation Torch. Wounded by friendly fire shortly thereafter. Convalessed at White Sulpher Springs WV Medical Facility. Medically Discharged.

Following discharge he returned to Libby Owens Ford glass plant in Kanawha City WV. In the early 1950s he went to work for Appalachain Electric Power as a ground maintenance man and worked there until his retirement in 1981. Mark passed away following a bout with cancer 29 May, 1983.
