Gazette Information: Gazette Issue 31119. Bar to D.S.O. The King has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of a Bar to the Distinguished Service Order to this Officer for conspicuous gallantry and outstanding leadership. It was necessary to capture some high ground overlooking a village before dark. This officer in command of the battalion commenced the advance at 3.15 p.m. By 5.45 p.m., all objectives had been taken. In carrying out this task the battalion advanced on a frontage of 1,000 yards with both flanks in the air, penetrated the enemy's lines for a distance of 4,000 yards and captured 197 prisoners, 15 machine guns and many trench mortars. The success of this manoeuvre was certainly due to the brilliant leadership of this officer.
